Summary

How Boohoo went Headless in 10 weeks

Often the most exciting advances in retail arrive when you least expect them. The conversations about Headless technology have been rife for several years, but big successes have been a little longer in coming. Then suddenly...Starting in January 2021 Boohoo re-platformed one of their new acquisitions, Debenhams.com, onto a new headless commerce stack. The brand-new Debenhams commerce storefront went live in just 10 weeks, with more acquired brands following in the weeks that followed. Boohoo can now move faster than any competition, despite their enormous scale – an ambition for every large business that takes digital seriously. We are delighted to welcome the team from Boohoo (including CIO Jo Graham) who are going to share their journey with peers in a private Chatham House environment. We applaud the ambition, the bravery and the commitment - and like many of you we cannot wait to hear the story.

Over the evening our delegates debated:

  • Engineering ambition – How to release the teams to deliver at speed
  • Business ambition – How to bring the business along for the ride
  • Architecting performance – Which building blocks do you put where?
