Summary

Directors' Dinner

In 2020 Marketplace transactions grew at twice the rate of overall eCommerce, no mean feat considering the wave of growth online has seen. Just as physical department stores have lost their relevance, and linear distribution models are being disrupted - so multi-brand marketplaces are set to grow exponentially as the opportunity to grab market share presents itself.

Before joining a Marketplace joint venture or starting your own we want to think hard together about the opportunities and pitfalls. Do you have the traffic volumes? Can you find the right type of seller? Is your business model and org structure ready to execute and trade this new world effectively? What rules will you set about competition within your marketplace? With the merger of Depop and Etsy, and brands like "In the Style" listing on ASDA - the real action is heating up now for 2022, so are you ready?

  • Commercial & company readiness - What is your new business model?
  • The risk of doing nothing - What if your competition does and you do not?
  • Customer & seller synchronicity - Where do you align? Where do you compete?
  • Technology & Trading - How will you fund, build and execute this new model?
